An MR is an individual registered with Phillip Capital who serves as an introducer. They are not a licensed holder authorized to deal in derivatives or stocks under the Securities Commission of Malaysia.

Be at least 21 years old

Must not be a licensed holder dealing in derivatives under Securities Commission of Malaysia

Have a minimum qualification, such as a degree, diploma, or professional qualification from a government-recognized institution

Complete Capital Market Essentials Programme (CMEP)* and pass the assessment**

*CMEP formally known as eFamiliarisation Programme

** CMSRL holders are not required to attend the Familiarisation Programme

Do’s for MR:

  • arranging for the customer to meet with or speak to a dealer representative of Phillip Capital
  • forwarding the customer’s particulars to Phillip Capital
  • providing the customer with factual information regarding products and services offered by Phillip Capital, including conducting presentations with prior consent from Phillip Capital
  • Informing the client about any remuneration scheme and its commission related to Marketing Representative activities, if requested by the client

 

Don’ts for MR:

  • prohibited from conducting suitability assessments for clients and providing specific recommendations to clients
  • not permitted to take clients’ orders, execute trades, handle or accept clients’
    monies or provide transactional advice to clients

*Not required, given that financial firms attached have already signed the MR agreement with us as firm level

You may visit here on Securities Commission website to view available dates and register for the CMEP. The fees for the programme with assessment is RM550 (excluding 8% SST).

No, surrendering your CMSRL is not required to register as an MR, provided there is no conflict of interest. It is essential, however, to obtain your principal’s awareness and agreement regarding this arrangement.


As a CMSRL holder, you are exempt from attending Capital Market Essentials Programme (CMEP) and completing the assessment, as your CMSRL certification is deemed sufficient.

  • Pay annual renewal fees of RM300 (before renewal date)
  • Fulfil 5 days or 35 hours of training (before renewal date)

(a) In-house Training *
Please request the link to join our WhatsApp MR channel from your respective dealer. We will share all upcoming sessions with registration links for the entitled MR training in that group.

– Physical Sessions (e.g., seminars):
MRs must sign in and sign off on the attendance list as confirmation of participation. MR must register with full name as per NRIC and MR code.

– Online Sessions (e.g., webinars):
MRs are required to register using full name as per NRIC and MR code. Attendance will be tracked based on login and logout times.

 

(b) External Events or Training
MRs may also count hours from events or training sessions related to MR responsibilities or investment knowledge (e.g., stocks and futures) / including training conducted by another principal that they attached with

In such cases, please ensure that training certificates or valid proof of attendance are submitted to your respective representative for verification.

 


*For in-house training (such as seminars, webinars, product briefings, or market-update sessions):


– These will be recognised as product-related training for MRs.


– 4 hours of training will count as 1 training day, while 2 hours will count as 0.5 training day.


 

A registration fee of RM550 applies, along with an annual fee of RM300 for the continued registration of an MR.
